Lookin' like a grandma...
It takes so little to amuse us around here. Take two cute pups, add a scarf & voila! Instant fun. A little fuzzy, but fun.

Little by little...
They've hatched! I have an artificial arrangement on my front porch and a finch laid FIVE eggs in a tiny nest in the basket. Since space is limited, I can't really tell how many hatched and are living in there, but I can see little heads peeking out now and then. Whenever we open the front door, the mom flies to the closest tree and I can't speak bird, but whatever she's yelling to us isn't friendly and I can tell she hates all the pictures being taken. Now she knows how Brangelina feels. Also today is my son's 21st birthday - HAPPY BIRTHDAY, ADAM!!

One happy dog...
If Frosty stayed like this for a week, he'd be happy. In case you didn't hear, like I have ALL weekend, and then 1000 times besides that, THE BLUES ARE IN THE PLAYOFFS!!! What dignified dog wouldn't want a St. Louis Blues jersey, right?? Don't answer that. Lookin' like his dad, chewin' on a chew stick, and lyin' in the sun - yep, doesn't get better than that.

New finch eatery
Busy weekend around here - we first dug up the dead tree in the front yard (by "we", I mean my husband), then we (again, not me) planted a small new one (a Bradford Pear tree I think) and planted some small bushes. By doing that, we had to take down the finch feeder thus throwing the mother of the eggs (on my porch) into a turmoil as to how she'd be able to adequately feed not only herself, but regurgitate enough for 5 children if there was no food source close by. Alas, the tree on the side of our house became the new home to the feeder and now everyone is happy. I like the way the yellow finch conveniently posed with my neighbor's spring flowers in the background. I don't think he's part of the family, but he's more than welcome to visit and partake in all the pre-baby-finch excitement. By the way, the bushes look smaller in the second picture because they still hadn't been planted in the first picture. That threw me off for a second before I figured it out.

So egg-citing!! (that's corny, I know)
A mother finch built this nest on a decoration hanging on my front porch. We've had finches build nests on our porch before, and they lay their eggs one at a time, one per day. Most of the time, there have been three eggs total. This time, we looked out one day to find one egg. The next day, another, and so on - until she finally had FIVE eggs in her nest! She's probably sorry she built it there because we're always coming and going through that door and each time she flies away, only to go so far as the closest tree to keep watch. They don't look so tiny in the picture, but they're only about the size of a dime. Hopefully we'll have some baby finches soon!!
