A true test of patience...

That little mouse would've been lunch in one chomp, but not with this big pup! This dog must be really old, or really well trained - my dogs are neither!

Whistle while you work...

He looks like a little wind-up puppy...until he runs at his owner and makes him stop whistling. How cute is that!!??

Stay in shape!

Maybe if I had such an empty room, I might work out too...or not.

Just for the G boys!

Here's what's so precious about this video...OK, little pup wants to be the boss and thinks he's so rough and tough, but the German Shepherd is being such a sweetie!! He's playing along but not getting rough with the little guy. At first I thought this was hilarious, but then I got the "awwwe" factor because the big one's being so gentle. I think they're gonna be good buds. ☺

So long, farewell...

While I absolutely adore my Snoozin' Pooches and am having a wonderful time blogging about them and anything else that's cute really, I don't have time to keep up with two blogs at once. For now, my time will be focused on my blog: www.theimperfecthousewife.blogspot.com. Please come join me there!!

Backyard picture...seriously

My niece and her husband just bought a house in Golden, Colorado, and this is a picture taken by the previous owner of an elk herd in the back yard! What in the world!??? Where is Santa when you need him? Aren't elk the same thing as reindeer, or is that something else? I can't remember. I'm trying to fight off squirrels and rabbits. My pups would have a stroke if they looked out the back door and saw that. Someday when we move into the country, I bet we'll have wildlife, but for now the only wildlife we have around here are three teenagers. If this was my yard, I'd seriously frame this picture - it's my dream!

Spa day!

OK, that's maybe a stretch - "spa" day. After all, how relaxing can it be having someone trim parts of you that are nobody's business, and putting tight little bows in your hair?? The result sure is "perty" though! Groomer Connie knows her stuff. I don't tell her that as soon as we take the bow out of Annabelle's hair and the scarf off from around her neck, she shakes them like she's trying to knock the life out of them! Nothin' better than a clean-smelling pup...ahhhhhh.

Hello friends!

I've been neglecting my Snoozin Pooches and I need to get a move on and get up-to-date!! I will do better, I promise. Have a great day ~

We love you, dad!

Yes, there's a human in there. When the kids were little, they couldn't wait until daddy got home, then they'd run to greet him. Nowadays, it's the pups. What a welcome!! Of course I still love it when he gets home, but I don't jump on his lap and lick his face. I mean really - some of us have to be mature!!

Let's FACE it...

Is this a face only a mother could love?? I don't think so! This is Annabelle and she's very excited because my new blog should be up and going by this weekend - if I can figure it out myself (hot dog!). I'll be working on it - fun!

Two-fer post!

I have two things to post today... FIRST, I'd like everyone to say a prayer for a fellow blogger's daughter who is recovering from a bad accident. You can see the story at her blog A Joyful Chaos. Click on the name of her blog and it will take you there. She refers to her daughter as Sunbeam. She's healing nicely but it's going to be a long haul!

SECOND, if you love giveaways (and I TOTALLY do!), then you need to check out one of my favorite sites, The Mennobrarian. Again, click on the name and poof, you're there. She's having a summer giveaway and I've posted a picture above of the goodies. Have fun!

You don't say!

I finally know what my husband hears when I'm talking to him about things that need to be done around the house!! I don't know this baby, but I sure wish I did - is she a hoot or what??

Visitors!

These aren't Snoozin' Pooches, but they are precious! This is my daughter, Sara, with my GREAT niece, Audrey. Audrey, her mom (my niece) and my sister are all in town visiting from Tucson. I forgot how much fun it was to have babies around - before they get all sassy and get an attitude (not that I know any teenagers that do!). :)

Circus dog

Some dogs fetch, some roll over, some don't run away when you open the kitchen door, and on and on. Frosty, however, was given the gift of balance and he uses it as much as possible. This is why I have printed out copies of how to get to the emergency animal clinic right on my refrigerator, should they become necessary. My husband says, "Just don't look," and yet, I can't seem to help it (and take pictures 'cause he's just so darn cute!) ~

Thou shalt not...

First, you might want to go to the bottom of this page and pause the music on the dog songs because this video has music, and listening to both musics playing will make you psycho! These animals are a hoot because they're all STEALERS. Shamey shamey...

So sweet...

I received this little blog "award" from my friend Maryann at A Joyful Chaos. She's my blogging buddy and her stories are a mingling of her childhood and her present-day life and I think you'll be hooked. Well, I now have to choose 4 blogs to pass this along to. Maryann's already given it to Katie Troyer or that would've been one of my picks as well. Again, you would love her if you haven't visited yet. I hate giving it to only 4 but who knows, maybe I'll give it to 4 more in a few weeks. What are they gonna do, put me in blogger jail?? Here are my picks - click on the name of the blog and it'll take you there:

Monica at The Mennobrarian
Linda at My Many Blessings
Kim at It is NOT Poetry
Cherylyn at Cher' Shares

I hope you visit and link to some new blogs and have fun!

My baby's a senior!

I wish you could see this picture a little more clearly, it says 2010 across the middle of the ring. Today was the last day of school for my youngest daughter and she will now officially be a senior! Tears? Nope. Smiles? Yep. Hot diggity! Now mom and dad can just dig in their pockets a little more - senior pictures, senior retreat, senior sweats, senior lock-in... For Pete's sake, take some pictures and be done with it already. Of course I didn't mean that (too much). I know this post doesn't have anything to do with Snoozin' Pooches, but the dogs celebrated by getting haircuts so everyone was happy.

Celebration of feet!

In honor of my daughter's foot surgeries (6 so far, 1 to go) we are celebrating tootsies here at Snoozin Pooches. What better way to get this going, than with precious bunny toes? His paws are so little and furry, you can tell they haven't had to dodge any cars yet. Or bikes. Or dogs. Or...

Guarding the bone...

OK, we've all seen this, but really, is it not just too funny and too stupid??? I like pictures, but these videos are just too much fun. Have a great weekend, everybody!

The very patient cat...

Oh sure, he's patient until the end when he calmly goes for the jugular - or maybe that's just a smooch. This looks just like my Frosty when he was a pup. I'm not a cat lover, but after reading a book or two with cats in them, they're growing on me and I think I could tolerate one. We all have allergies to cats over here so that's out, but never say never!

Now I lay me...

Like any good parents, we've taught our children to pray before bedtime - even if bedtime is a nap on a big blanket.

Sleeping like a baby...

This is Rory in all his glory, and of course his stuffed buddies. If you want to see more ADORABLE pictures of Rory, go to http://www.dailypuppy.com/dog/rory_26285. His mom was happy to share his pictures with us and since cuteness is my #1 prerequisite, I just couldn't pass this up. Thanks Rorysmum!! I could use a nap like that.

Time to go...

Last week, the little ones finally decided to leave the nest and head on to greener pastures. We didn't see them actually take off, but we got to take some pictures pre-flight. Now we need to throw away my adorable house decoration and power wash the poop off the siding!! Ahh, kids, they never clean up after themselves...

The Stages of Hunger...

Here are the four stages of hunger: 1. A LOT, 2. Kind of a lot, 3. Not so much, and 4. Don't wake me up. There was a fifth egg that we're not sure where it went. We watched the four grow and go but number 5 disappeared. Those magic birds, what're you gonna do??

Dog's note to God...

Dear God: Let me give you a list of just some of the things I must remember to be a good Dog.

1. I will not eat the cats' food before they eat it or after they throw it up.

2. I will not roll on dead seagulls, fish, crabs, etc., just because I like the way they smell.

3. The litter box is not a cookie jar.

4. The sofa is not a 'face towel'.

5. The garbage collector is not stealing our stuff.

6. I will not play tug-of-war with Dad's underwear when he's on the toilet.

7. I don't need to suddenly stand straight up when I'm under the coffee table

8. I must shake the rainwater out of my fur before entering the house - not after.

9. I will not come in from outside and immediately drag my hiney.

12. The cat is not a 'squeaky toy' so when I play with him and he makes that noise, it's usually not a good thing.

Snoozin' soccer boy...

After a long soccer game, sometimes you just gotta give it up. Actually, his feet look like they've been out playing soccer. Dreaming of a victory, I'm sure...

Yes, dogs do dream...

You may have seen this video on YouTube or gotten this e-mail, but for those of you who haven't, it's just too funny. It's not as funny as the dog that tries to bite his own leg while he's chewing a bone (I'll have to try and find that one) but this one is a close second. Have fun!

Unscheduled play date

I ALMOST love deer as much as I love dogs, except for the whole lyme disease thing and someday, somehow, I'm going to live where I can have deer roam freely around my property. Right now my property is a backyard in a subdivision and of course no deer. This video shows what my new backyard will be like when/if we ever move and the fun my dog(s) will have with their new wildlife friends!! The dog even LOOKS like my pup, except the dog in the video has a funny bark, almost like a quack/bark. I got this video in an e-mail so I don't know whose yard this actually is, but now you all can see what I dream about at night....ENJOY!!

Lookin' like a grandma...

It takes so little to amuse us around here. Take two cute pups, add a scarf & voila! Instant fun. A little fuzzy, but fun.

Little by little...

They've hatched! I have an artificial arrangement on my front porch and a finch laid FIVE eggs in a tiny nest in the basket. Since space is limited, I can't really tell how many hatched and are living in there, but I can see little heads peeking out now and then. Whenever we open the front door, the mom flies to the closest tree and I can't speak bird, but whatever she's yelling to us isn't friendly and I can tell she hates all the pictures being taken. Now she knows how Brangelina feels. Also today is my son's 21st birthday - HAPPY BIRTHDAY, ADAM!!

The stress of it all...

This was totally unposed and I'm not even sure which feet go where. Sometimes after a hard day, the only thing you can do is fall asleep watching the hockey game. Enough said.

Tolerance

I think the dogs dislike getting their pictures taken as much as my kids do, but really, on my "Things I Really Care About" scale, that's not real high so I click away. BTW, new blog coming soon....stay tuned!

One happy dog...

If Frosty stayed like this for a week, he'd be happy. In case you didn't hear, like I have ALL weekend, and then 1000 times besides that, THE BLUES ARE IN THE PLAYOFFS!!! What dignified dog wouldn't want a St. Louis Blues jersey, right?? Don't answer that. Lookin' like his dad, chewin' on a chew stick, and lyin' in the sun - yep, doesn't get better than that.

New finch eatery

Busy weekend around here - we first dug up the dead tree in the front yard (by "we", I mean my husband), then we (again, not me) planted a small new one (a Bradford Pear tree I think) and planted some small bushes. By doing that, we had to take down the finch feeder thus throwing the mother of the eggs (on my porch) into a turmoil as to how she'd be able to adequately feed not only herself, but regurgitate enough for 5 children if there was no food source close by. Alas, the tree on the side of our house became the new home to the feeder and now everyone is happy. I like the way the yellow finch conveniently posed with my neighbor's spring flowers in the background. I don't think he's part of the family, but he's more than welcome to visit and partake in all the pre-baby-finch excitement. By the way, the bushes look smaller in the second picture because they still hadn't been planted in the first picture. That threw me off for a second before I figured it out.

So egg-citing!! (that's corny, I know)

A mother finch built this nest on a decoration hanging on my front porch. We've had finches build nests on our porch before, and they lay their eggs one at a time, one per day. Most of the time, there have been three eggs total. This time, we looked out one day to find one egg. The next day, another, and so on - until she finally had FIVE eggs in her nest! She's probably sorry she built it there because we're always coming and going through that door and each time she flies away, only to go so far as the closest tree to keep watch. They don't look so tiny in the picture, but they're only about the size of a dime. Hopefully we'll have some baby finches soon!!

Tree dog

If you look real closely up the tree, there's a dog staring into our yard - or a very dog-looking squirrel! She never barks at my pups, just climbs up and watches. With our house, she probably thinks she's watching the circus, complete with clowns and an animal show.

Ohhhhh, the precious-nosity!!

I 100% give credit to this amazing photographer. The picture says his name is Jeff Moore and he's a genius in my book. I received this picture in an e-mail and I just lovvvvvve it! He'll probably grow up and eat someone's garden, but look at him now - what mother wouldn't love that face, even a deer mom?? Kudos, photographer Jeff!

Star of the show (but not snoozin!)

Meet Annabelle. She is one of the (awake) snoozin' pooches in all her cuteness! She just came from the groomer, hence the pink bows. I'd LOVE to have her look like this all the time, but the headlocks we have to put her in to get the bows in just aren't worth it sometimes!!
